THE LIBRARY of the DCFGC is one of its greatest educational resources. Located in the office of the Garden Center at Callanwolde, it contains over 400 volumes of books and periodicals on subjects of interest to garden club members.
Members of the Federation may borrow books free of charge for a period of 3 weeks. To extend the checkout time, simply call the Garden Center. Reference and older volumes may only be checked out with special permission from the library committee.
Many of the older volumes were donated from the libraries of founding members of the Federation. These books, with publication dates ranging from 1887–1941, help to preserve the history of our organization.
DeKalb Federation is grateful for the donation of garden-related books by members who no longer have use or space for these treasures. While contributions of used books are welcome, they are subject to review by the library committee according to need and space availability.
Donations to the library are always welcomed. They may be made in honor or memory of someone and in the form of a cash donation or books approved by the library committee. Checks should be made payable to The DeKalb County Federation of Garden Clubs, Inc. and earmarked “Library”. Bookplates will be inserted in all books added to the library, and an acknowledgement and note of appreciation sent for each contribution.
For those wishing to donate entire collections of books to the Garden Center Library, please note that these will be accepted with the provision that those not needed in the Garden Center Library will he donated or sold. Proceeds from donated books sold at DeKalb Federation general meetings go to the National Garden Clubs’ Natural Disaster Relief Fund.
Use is encouraged of this very valuable resource of The DeKalb County Federation of Garden Clubs. For additional information about the library,
